Could not have said it better, Hector--- These people who did this to a great Man need to be held accountable..... And have fun facing Dick Collins after you did this behind his back... as someone who has been in Coach' doghouse, have your running shoes with u. Come out in support of this guy who put in 40 yrs......

H.L. you did use the right words ( world-class human being ) when you talked about Ken Maglio. The way he ( Ken Maglio ) was fired was classless. Any man that brings dignity and class to a program like Ken Maglio did for 40yrs should have been able to leave the way he wanted to leave. Many people from Andover would have done alot of things for him before and after he left. He earn that right, 40 yrs in the Andover school sports programs. The peolpe from Andover earn that right. How many people from Andover lives did he touch in a positive way. The people of Andover needed to say there goodbyes to him in a way that they wanted to. Now the people of Andover have to fight for him to get what he should have got from the beginning, Something Andover school system doesn't have, respect. To answer the question why did he get treated like this we will never know. John Rex, the new interim football coach is in the middle of this shamless act. That alone is shamful.

I was extremely disappointed to hear about the way in which coach Ken Maglio has been treated by Andover High School after nearly 40 years (longer than my lifespan) of service. I remember Coach Maglio fondly from my days at both WMS and AHS. His enthusiasm and love for both sports and his students were always readily apparent.

Former AHS physics teacher Ron Francis was never formally sanctioned for any of his activities, despite the fact that he recruited students for his political causes and even paid them; he organized and distributed a student petition against the AHS faculty; and he invited a hate group to speak at AHS despite having no educational background in history or social studies. And yet Ken Maglio is being unceremoniously terminated near his retirement age after 40 years without a single bad review and a wealth of former players willing to praise his knowledge and commitment?

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the meeting on Monday to support Coach Maglio (due to distance). I do, however, fully support Coach Maglio and I wholeheartedly agree with Hector's editorial.

I feel the comments posted is not the coach I have seen and heard about while living in this town. I've heard a lot of people are glad that he is no longer coaching. Fairness?????? I know first hand how UNFAIR this "great" coach has been. I applaud Dr. Bach for finally getting new blood and attitude.

It looks like someone didn't make the football or baseball team in Andover. 40 yrs coaching for one town. You must have heard wrong about Ken Maglio. As you can see from the what H.L. had to write about him and what people are blogging about him that this man ( Ken Maglio ) was a good man. Are you sure we are talking about the same person. Even if what you heard was true. No man should have been fired and treated the way he was after 40yrs of service.

Look Bach kicked a little 6 year old girl out of school (see Townman) . It should make all people in Andover aware of what she is. She did the same to Mags smiling all the way. Mags would have beaten Methen.

andoverperson, Methuen would have won no matter who was coaching. Andover just couldn't stop the run and the high power offence was shut down.

It was his time to go, he did nothing with the football team for years & by my experience with my son & other kids I knew he only picked his friends kids for the baseball team, he teams did make the states but never advanced to further rounds goodbye-
Magglio-good riddance-as you notice the football team is better without him this season.

He had the two of the best pithers in Mass last year but picked the wrong team to hit. He learns from this kind of screw up and will do better

From a resident of andover and a player on varsity baseball and varsity football, Maglio deserves to go... in my opinion "what goes around comes around" is the case here... he clearly is not capable of coaching at a highschool level... he might be ok with little league...... he gave in to politics with his buddy tisbert and iarrabino.... all those people are fake and need to get a life... good riddens and bye bye.....

ps. i was a starter in both facets.... went on to AAA college bball...
    no thanks to him....

joejones12, Wait a min.. Your telling me that you played for him and than went on to AAA college bball, and you feel he was not part of that. I think your making this up. Are you friends with H.L. and John Stark ( a great Granite Stater if there ever was one by the way ), ( "Hero of Bennington" ), ( General ), ( anti-Central sentiment movement believer ) and now a member of "Rogers' Rangers" because I know they like to make things up. Its not that he had to go. That might had been the case. It's the way they ( Andover High ) did it. They did it with no class. No one should have been treated like he was treated.
