Sad situation at my sons all start game couple weeks ago at central catholic when so called coach of the year rich nault was too good to coach a team and i watch as rick barden coach both teams and even given julian scott the honor of coaching my sons team, thanks to barden shame on nault.

I have had the pleasure to know the Jones family since Josh was 6th grade. It starts with the parents; Josh and his siblings have been blessed in that respect. Josh and my son Connor played plenty of AAU together - Connor will tell you that there isn't a better teammate out there.
Josh worked his tail off at hoops and baseball. He is a winner and will do well at the next stop.

Jones is a good player, no doubt.
But bear in mind that he is, like too many others, really a 13th grader. Not everyone has the advantage of playing a Post Graduate year in a public high school!

Are you kidding me about the Umass program? What a joke.. Governor Patrick fills a made a job to pay back a political favor to a under qualified person for 170k and then they go and cut the baseball program? If they cancel alot of dissapointed local kids Robinson-Haverhill, Wallace-Tewksbury, Silva-Pentucket, Smith-Amesbury.. If they cancel program we should all be embarrased to live in Mass..

Again, the UMass thing is still in rumor mode. And it only includes the Amherst campus.
UMass Lowell baseball is alive and well.
Not only that, UM Lowell baseball should be a dynamite program this spring.

Jones is overrated! Hard to believe that he was Mr Basketball, when he paddded his stat in 4th qtr blowouts,
i would pick Holio, lagueere and Chevilous from memorial over him.
Also thought kimball was more of a factor on the salem team.
, who picks Mr Basketball? both Holio and laguere were players of the year in classs I and L.
if you are giving the award for a career, then I would give it to Jones, but not just the 08/9 season

Don't want to go too negative on a high school kid. But Jones is lucky to break the Top 10 locally. True about padded stats against lousy teams.
And Hector, I am sold on Pelham but Salem went winless against Andover the past year.

UMass dumping the program would leave only URI, UConn, and Maine as state universities in New England with baseball programs. Sad. Deval Patrick wouldn't know a baseball from a watermelon. Central, Andover, Haverhill, Lawrence in that order. Neither Salem nor Pelham would be a favorite against any of the above.
