OK, here come the Turkey Day thoughts, sorry about the tardy nature …
are you aware that CBS and the MAXPREPS national sports website have ranked Amesbury, Massachusetts the 49th best team in Massachusetts?
And guess what, NOT ONE OF THE TEAMS YOU MENTIONED is ranked above them.
Amesbury (CAL SMALL) moved up 30+ spots after their 3rd consecutive win last Friday. WITH THREE GAMES PLAYED SO FAR, ONE RUNNING BACK RUSHED OVER 600 YARDS AND SCORED 9 TOUCHDOWNS.
THE OTHER HAS RUSHED 300+ YARDS IN 3 GAMES AND HAS 5 TOUCHDOWNS. PLENTY OF RECEIVING YARDS, AS WELL.
And please note that all wins, thus far, have been against LARGE schools; NORTH ANDOVER, EAST BOSTON (Superbowl runner up) and TRITON.
HAVE YOU BEEN TO A NEWBURYPORT GAME YET?
YIKES, LOL.
We don't cover Amesbury anymore. The Newburyport News chose to abandon RallyNorth, so we don't include Amesbury in our rankings.
I've got nothing but respect for Amesbury, but we can't include them. Believe me, they belong there. If I had my way, we'd be including them, but they chose to go with their own site.
Friday night's a good test with Lawrence. I still think the CAL small is up for grabs, though.
Thanks for reading my blog. And thanks for the input.
HL
Kevin Johnston tallied up over 400 all-purpose yards against East Boston the other night, and he is 2nd in the state for scoring....this includes Massachusetts teams that have played 4 games, already.
And if you're speaking of Lawrence's passing game; well, we're not too worried about that. We have seen their defense a few times, as well.
Just out of curiosity;why do you need the NBPT News's permission to cover Amesbury Sports? I'm certain that if you polled parents and students, they'd want you to come.
That paper has posted 75+ photos of the Clippers, and 2 of Indians; they are very biased. It's too bad.
Indian fans aren't too concerned with beating large teams, although it's great for spirit.
Actually FootballMum's son is a very humble player, and I know for a fact that he and my son respect all of the teams they play, including Lawrence.
Londonderry's offense is diverse for the first time in years thanks to new coaching. They run the ball with 5 different players and pass the ball when necessary. No more are they one back and a solid line. Pinkerton is a big play offense. The game outcome depends on the Lancer's much bigger line establishing dominance on both sides of the ball and controlling one player. The Lancers have better personnel, except for Guinto, and, if they play their game, it should be a year in which the Astro's go down. It would be nice to have a competitive DI again.
Clancy is quite good -- have you watched him play, or are you too busy being a cheer leader for your kid and ignoring the others on the field?
Give me a break.
Indians have improved since last year and NBPT isn't doing as well as they did last year.
So, you do the math.
Anyway, yes he is a talented player; but, what the heck is happening over there?
We've seen him in 2 games, and he hasn't done well at all.
And no, I do not need to cheer for my son LOL.....
the crowd cheers loud enough for our team...lol
Did anyone see what they did to Superbowl guys East Boston last Friday? I was there, and it was unbelievable. They won 44-14, and never even had to pass...it was crazy. wow
The Lawrence coaches were in East Boston (nice guys), and they certainly looked impressed.......VERY impressed.
It's just good to see a small town/school winning against these huge schools.
