H.L. since one of your readers chime in as to whether the prep schools in the region, Brooks and Phillips, were included in the Fan. Four. You responsed ( I’ve pondered it back and forth. There are a ton of great athletes participating, handfuls of local kids. ). Can you tell me or us who can be in your Fan. 4. Because Dracut, ( right next door to Methuen ) can't be in your Fan. 4. Now I know Pinkenton ( CC of N.H. ) ( 25 miles away ) can, but what other school can be in. Maybe its me, but on the top page it reads High School Sports - Merrimack Valley and Southern NH. Now I know you and most of your bloggers would like to rename the top page Pinkenton ( CC of N.H. ) and who ever. Please tell us what schools can be in and what schools can't and this will stop all questions to you about the way you pick your Fan. 4.

We like to call it Pinkerton with an "r" but whatever...
  • DK · 3 weeks ago
Name, I believe there is a map somewhere in the newspaper that shows the towns that the trib. covers. Derry has always been included. I do not think Dracut is on the map. Lowell Sun covers Dracut, I think?
  • bobbyDi · 3 weeks ago
I think top page should read, "Name Would Marry and Live Happily Ever After With Anyone Boasting They're From the MVC"

    Thoughts?

SPORTS FAN, What ever. DK, I believe the top page reads High School Sports - Merrimack Valley and Southern NH. Now maybe I'm wrong, But I think Dracut is in the Merrimack Valley. bobbyDi. I like it. But you and I know thats not going to happen. OK, now we got how most bloggers feel. Can H.L. please answer the question.

Hector, to make name happy, I think that you should only cover North Andover sports since they are the town where the Eagle Tribune is located. In fact forget North Andover High, too far away. The only school within a mile of the Trib is Franklin Elementary (besides the Montessori school but that is private like Central, so fogetaboutit) so you are allowed to cover Franklin Elemetary School and thats it.

Stead, Nothing to get upset about. Its a easy question. What schools can be in H.L. Fantastic Four and who can not. Now we all know Pinkerton ( CC of N.H. ) is 1. But who else.
  • Stead · 3 weeks ago
Name, not upset, just a little sport. Here are the towns that the Eagle Tribune delivers to, which would be their readership. They are in the business of selling papers, so coverage of these towns is essential. I would say that the school located in these areas should be eligible for the fantastic four but really it is whoever Hector wants, it’s his blog, The Eagle-Tribune goes to the following cities and towns per their website, 18 high schools:
    Amesbury- AHS
    Andover-AHS
    Boxford- Maconomet
    Georgetown- GHS
    Groveland-Pentucket
    Haverhill-HHS
    Lawrence-LHS, CCHS
    Merrimac-Pentucket
    Methuen-MHS
    Middleton-Masconomet
    North Andover-NAHS
    North Reading-NRHS
    West Newbury-Pentucket
    Atkinson- Timberlane
    Chester- Pinkerton
    Danville- Timberlane
    Derry- Pinkerton
    Hampstead- Pinkerton
    Kingston- Sanborn
    Londonderry- LHS
    Newton- Sanborn
    Pelham- PHS
    Plaistow- Timberlane
    Salem- SHS
    Sandown- Timberlane
    Windham- WHS

Stead, Please don't get upset. Its a very easy question. You don't need to answer for him. The top of the page reads High School Sports - Merrimack Valley and Southern NH. Now again I know Pinkerton ( CC of N.H. ) ( 25 miles away. ) is 1 of the schools. I also know that Brooks and Phillips ( local schools ) are not. Just tell me or us who could be in his Fantastic Four. I don't care were the Eagle Tribune delivers. If it is what he wants than we have a problem. Because the top page reads High School Sports - Merrimack Valley and Southern NH not what ever H.L. says. What are you 5yrs old.

Name, Concord, N.H., is part of the Merrimack Valley. You see, the Merrimack is a river and a valley formed around it, so technically, so is Manchester, N.H., part of the Merrimack Valley.
    Wow, georgraphy is fun.
The blog was set up in conjunction with The Eagle-Tribune newspaper, a newspaper that covers the towns above, but doesn't include Dracut, Tewksbury, Billerica, Groton-Dunstable and whatever other Mass. schools you're into.
For the record, Pinkerton would be rated ahead of Dracut and Chelmsford, but probably would be behind Billerica if I expanded it.
Do me a favor, list the schools you want me to include, and I will do separate rankings for you.
I'll call them, my "All-Name teams" rankings, OK.
That's me, Mr. Customer Satisfaction, so list the schools you want, be it Dracut, Chelmsford or Sarasota (Fla.) Riverview. And I'll rank them.
Same thing, if you don't want Pinkerton or Salem, go for it. Knock them out.
I don't know about you but I'm fired up about this.

Sorry for the geographic challenges, but Central Catholic dropped Chelmsford 24-14 in a game that wasn't nearly as close as the final score would suggest. The opportunistic Raiders march on at 5-0 in the MVC with an underrated bunch that does enough to simply win and, in tonight's case, contains a talented Gennaro kid from Chelmsford.

Meanwhile, Pink's loss throws NH D1 into chaos. It will be an interesting final week.
  • Steve · 3 weeks ago
    John Stark,

Pinks loss to Central is unlikely to be of any consequence in D1 as the winner on the North - Pink game still gets the #2 seed and the loser the #3 spot. That is, unless you're Londonderry, and a Pink loss to North AND a Central upset of Salem, knocks you from the play-offs and Pink drops to #4.

H.L. Thank you for your response. It's not what I want. The top page reads High School Sports - Merrimack Valley and Southern NH. If your not going to inclued all of the Merrimack Valley and Southern NH, than the top page should not read High School Sports - Merrimack Valley and Southern NH. Nothing to get fired up about. If this is what the eagletribune told you to do, than it should change the top page. I think the eagletribune would like to be, and I'll use your words ( Mr. Customer Satisfaction ).

OK, H.L. this is it. On the top page it reads ( High School Sports - Merrimack Valley and Southern NH. ) Merrimack Valley means to me ( Merrimack Valley is a community of towns and cities surrounding the Merrimack River along the New Hampshire border. The cities and towns in this area are: ).

    Amesbury,Andover,Billerica,Boxford,Chelmsford,Dracut,
    Dunstable,Georgetown,Groveland,Haverhill,Lawrence,Lowell,
    Merrimac,Methuen,Newbury,Newburyport,North Andover,Rowley,
Salisbury,Tewksbury,Tyngsboro,West Newbury,Westford,Wilmington. Now Southern NH will alway start and end with Pinkerton ( CC of N.H. ). This is all fact so tell me who can be in your Fan. 4 and who can not. Please don't act like a 5yr old.

i Think hector does a great job with the highschool sports in the area so all you guys need to calm down just let him do his thing. Just wondering who do you think are the best 10 football players in the mvc hec?
  • Name · 2 weeks ago
fergiethedutches, H.L. will not answer your question. Because he and his blogger friends thinks the top 10 football players come from Pinkerton ( CC of N.H. ). He and his blogger friends also thinks the remaining ( 20 to 100 ) football players come from N.H.. He and his blogger friends will never give the MVC football players any credit.
