Good for this coach. The kid quit and he doesn't deserve the letter.
You don't just get letters, you need to earn them. Shame on the player, and shame on his parents for getting in the way. Excuse me, mom and dad, but your son wasn't happy that he apparently wasn't good enough, so he took his stick and went home. That's being childish, and he doesn't deserve the letter.
I hope the coach finds a new job. If I had a team, he would be the first guy I would want to hire.
